Water, Water...
06.29.05 (6:51 am) [edit]
well it's not "everywhere" but it sure made a mess in the middle of my office! I came in this morning and part of the ceiling in my office had collapsed from a water leak...can we say EEWWW? Someone came out and found out where the water was coming from and got the leaking stopped, but now I have to wait for them to come out and replace the ceiling tiles and *hopefully* wet vac the carpet. I took a couple of pics so you could see the "devastation"

I now have a nice view of the steam pipes in the ceiling. ... Just another fun filled day at work! :D
Isabelle asked when I am moving...well I get the keys end of next week and then have until the last week in July to get all moved out. This is handy since it's just Greg and me doing all the small moving...the big moving (heavy furniture) will be done on the 23rd of July. So it gives us time to get things done, like painting if we want in the new place. And it gives us time to watch the Tour de France during July becuz we can't miss Lance's last ride! :D

Getting Catty...
06.28.05 (5:19 am) [edit]
:D Hello again! Ever dedicated, we find time to stitch even in the middle of our move. Actually it's a nice stress breaker after packing and packing and packing...
Greg is making fast progress on EduCated, it's very cute, especially cuz he's making the cat "resemble" Jesse (our cat). It's been quite funny watching Greg get the cat to pose for him so he can get the details just right....good thing the cat is a ham for the camera.
Here's Greg's progress:

The picture doesn't do this justice at all, in my opinion. :)
My flag is going slower than I'd like, but I haven't spent tons of time on it either. Plus I found a mistake at the end of the red stripe that I had to rip out and redo, but it's getting there and under normal circumstances wouldn't take long to stitch up.

It's hard to find a good spot to take pictures right now, what w/ boxes covering everything. At least the small stuff is packed and sorting has been done, a lot of stuff has been donated to charity and I have a feeling even more stuff will go once I start unpacking. It's actually been a good thing, as stuff that should've been disposed of long ago is now gone. It's amazing how much stuff a person accumulates over time, even in a small space. :)

A Big Hit!
06.21.05 (5:37 am) [edit]
:D That's what Greg's wolf picture was! He finished it on Sunday and we got it framed up and ready to go on Monday. Greg presented the wolf to his co-worker and friend Gerald on Monday morning (June 20). Greg created this project to show Gerald his appreciation for all Gerald does. Gerald was out of the office for several weeks this spring being treated for an early stage cancer and to say Greg missed him would be a major understatement. :) Gerald is recovering marvelously, as you can see from his picture and Greg is thrilled that he's back! Below are pics of the finished wolf and Gerald w/ his surprise gift.

I also got my map matted and framed. It's hard to see from the pics, but the frame is a peacock blue crackle w/ terra cotta underneath. I am putting a close up of the frame so you can get an idea of what it looks like, although the effect in person is much more striking. It turned out great and Greg did a fantastic job on the mat. I just love this project it turned out better than I could've ever hoped. Now I will have to find a special spot for it in our new place.

If you go here you can and click the picture you can see a large version of this project. http://www.angelfire.com/art2...

I have made some progress on the flag, but don't have an update pic yet. It's slow going, as I am in mega cleaning and packing mode...we are now drowning in boxes... I will be glad when we are moved over and can get some breathing room. :D

A Room W/ A View
06.17.05 (10:57 am) [edit]
:D That's what I've got now that Greg's stained glass project is framed! It turned out so FANTASTIC! His dad custom made the frame and then I painted and crackled the finish to give it an "old" look. I love it!

Did I mention that I LOVE this? :) :D
I am making moderate progress on my flag, of course I am a "teeny tiny bit" distracted about moving...okay I confess I'm A LOT distracted. This is going pretty quickly except that the fabric is a bit stiffer than I have been used to for a while, which makes it harder to stitch. :) Other than that I like this pattern it's fun and colorful.

Greg is basically finished w/ his wolf, just some backstitching, so we are waiting for a snap of it till he's done. I have my frame ready for my map, but need the mat board and Greg hasn't had time to work on that yet, hopefully this weekend. :) I've got to get busy this weekend and clean out the kitchen...but once done I won't have to think about it again. :) This is the perfect time to purge a lot of junk that's accumulated, so off I go! :)

The Happy Dance!
06.08.05 (10:58 am) [edit]
:D I am now "officially" finished w/ the pirate map! Hooray me!! I had a bit of backstitching left last night and then it was all done... I think the only thing difficult is that it's over...it's always hard to finish a big project, it's so anti-climatic. But it's done and now I'm going to move onto other things. :) I really enjoyed this one as it made me work hard to get it done and I really worked at getting it perfect. I love the colors and all the little details. I decided that instead of just signing my name at the bottom, I would change the pattern a bit and rename one of the cove's after ME! And I used Roman numerals for the date, sort of goes w/ the mysterious flare of the map.
Sorry the picture isn't better it's so big it's hard to get a good detailed pic.

Now that I'm done I want to do something relatively simple for my next project, so I have decided to work on Bent Creek's Glory

I think this will be fun for Independence Day and am contemplating making it into a pillow if I can get it done quick enough.
Greg is still working away at his wolf, he's stitching in the Aurora Borealis and it looks so nice! It's got to be a lot of work cuz the background is all half stitches. But he's going very fast and I'm sure he'll be done in no time. :)

We are looking at moving to a new place and are just waiting approval (taps fingers impatiently) if we get in we will definately be distracted by that for a month or so...so I figure if I want to get in some good stitching I'd better do it now! :) Cuz by the time we are finished it'll be time to start on Halloween projects.

Is it June???
06.02.05 (6:36 am) [edit]
Already?? Okay what happened to May? I swear every year that month just zips by and somehow I miss the whole thing...
For some reason I seem uninspired lately not sure what the problem is...I'm very close to finishing my project and seem to be dragging my feet. It's almost as if I don't want it to be finished. :) But it is. A bit more of the outside of the map and some finishing touches and it's ready for framing. It's been fun and exhausting, but this is one of the nicest projects I've done. :)

I love the metallics on this, especially the compass rose it turned out very nice and I found that the beads that were recommended for it just didn't add anything so I left them off. I'm slightly disappointed in the whale, it doesn't really look like a whale to me...we will see after adding the backstitched water spray... All in all this has been a challenging project and I'm ready for something simple and silly...and I have so many of those... LOL But I did find a new Raise the Roof pattern that I may buy! It's one of those clothesline things, called "Sam's Socks Shorts & Such"

I think it's a lot of fun and would make a great pillow... I haven't decided if I want to get it yet, but it would make a great next project. :)
Greg is working hard on his wolf and is nearly done! He finished the wolf and is working on the background, it looks fantastic!

I'm not a big fan of animal stitching but this one is very pretty and should be finished in no time. :)
Now it's officially summer I hope everyone is out enjoying themselves! I'm looking forward to doing some fun stuff this summer and hopefully getting some stitching done as well.
