So Close and Yet...
05.19.05 (7:31 am)   [edit]
:D Sometimes the end can seem so far away...but the project is getting there! It looks so kewl and I can't wait till it's all done. :) Not sure I like stitching the sides, hard to see when colors are so close and so light. I have decided to leave the beads off though. I'm just not sure they will add anything to the project and there are so few it hardly seems worth putting them on. Here's where I am so far and I hope to be done soon...

Greg keeps making stellar progress! Although I must confess that I kind of liked the wolf as more of a silhoutte. It still looks great and he is just cranking it out, lucky guy! :D

Metallic Edge
05.13.05 (7:42 am)   [edit]
Back again! I have been swamped at work and was gone end of last week on a business trip, so haven't had time to do any updates. I am glad to say that I have finally made some progress on Oak Island. It's still a ways from being done, but getting closer. I finally had to order metallic threads from Kreinik so that I could work on certain areas of the project. I just felt that substitutions weren't going to cut it for me. I got the threads earlier this week and I have to say I'm glad I got them, it made a huge difference in the look of the project. So here's an update pic:

It looks deceptively close to being finished when in reality I still have to stitch the whole outer rim and the compass rose, etc. not to mention some minor backstitching. But I feel I've got some momentum built up and hope to get the rest done quickly.

Greg is still working on his wolf, but he's made quite a bit of progress, his only complaint was working black on black...I have to agree that would be a pain. :) I find this to be such a striking project and even though I'm not an outdoorsy fan this one has a nice feeling to it.

In a way it reminds me of a project that San did last year for her brother (the Husky), different colors but watching it emerge has the same feel to it. :)

Things are getting busy at work and also we are looking into moving so if I'm not prolific in the next three months you will know why! Have a great weekend!
