:D Hello again!! I was gone most of last week on vacation, so I didn't get to do any major updates. Thus you will see MAJOR progress on mine and Greg's projects (Greg was off ALL last week). :D
Luckily the weather last week was pretty nice and we had a fun time!! Went shopping and to a concert, it was pretty nice!!
I got half of my witches done and it's looking great! I like the way it's turning out, even if it is HUGE!! I had a hard time finding a frame that would fit it!
So here's my progress so far:

The next witch going well, but she's HUGE as well! Some of these rows are 90 or more stitches across!!
Greg is working on a pattern from Art-Stitch it's called Iris and it's a stain glass window, similar to the last one he did only MUCH larger. He is doing it on Zweigart 14 ct Rustico Harvest Wheat, it's a pale yellow color and has the look of light sunshine coming through a window. It's so pretty and this project is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! This one does not escape the house, I want it hung our our wall...somewhere...
Since he has been working on it a while I'll show you the current pic, if you want to see all progress pics they are in the gallery. :)

Here's what it will look like when it's finished:

Well it's back to winter here and 2 people I work with have nasty colds bordering on Bronchitis...I'm crossing my fingers that I don't catch it as well. Can't believe it's March already!

"Who's Your Inner Sexy Cartoon Chick?"
I saw this over on San's site and of course I had to give it a try, ironically I am Betty Boop, which I find hilarious as I absolutely LOVE BB and always have, I even have an umbrella here at work with me that has her iconic goodness sprinkled all over it.
I don't have any updates as yet, am plugging away at the credit card pic, it's more difficult than it orignally looked. :) But it's getting there. I'm going to a concert tonite in a little club downtown, that should be interesting...if you can believe it I have *never* been to any type of concert *ever*... (big sigh) I'm so backwards...
Okay, now GO! Find your inner cartoon Goddess!! :D

:D So here it is Friday once again and I am feeling back to my old self! I wish it was a 3 day weekend, but unfortunately I don't get Prez's day off. :? Hope some of you out there do!
I am currently working on a project from Twisted Threads. It's called "Man into a Credit Card"... I love it! It's one of those easy and fun projects! Of course it's also big, so it will take a bit of time, but hopefully not too long as it's also easy.
This pattern goes along w/ my love for Halloween as it's two witches chatting. It's a long picture, almost 20 inches! I felt I had the perfect fabric, but when I got it out it was a bit too dull purple for me, so I thought Hey! I can spritz it w/ some bleach and lighten it up a bit! So I did and it did, problem is in the pictures it's hard to tell... Oh well!!
I've got the saying stitched in and now I'm starting on the rest:

This is one of those projects that once I have it framed I will probably bring to work, as my co-worker ladies will surely appreciate it's humor!
Greg finished his stain glass project and it is so cute and will look great in that frame, which we will do this weekend!

It's hard to tell, but the fabric is more peachy colored and very complimentary to the project. Notice how he signed his project! It's so clever! He incorporated his initials into blocks of the windows!! I love this idea!!
And lastly I have to show you the new patterns I ordered! I have just been won over by the designer "Raise the Roof Designs". They have some fun designs and I've already stitched 2 of them, Witchy Washy & Santa Clothes! Well just in time for Easter comes ... "Peter's Cotton Knits" How could I resist a name like that??? I also got one from them called "Marriage Tree". It's very sweet!

These are great designs and I know that I will enjoy stitching and finishing each one!

Back from the Bug...
02.15.05 (12:07 pm) [edit]
I am happy to say that I have survived some nasty little stomach bug! Not the outright flu, but still icky nonetheless! Stuck at home w/ time on my hands I was able to finish a few things! So it wasn't all a loss. :)
First off the Margaret Sherry Chickens, I finished the last one and it turned out so cute! I couldn't find a frame I liked for it so I decided to make it into a mini pillow. Here is the last chicken:

Here are the three chicken projects all together before being framed/pillowed:

Here they are framed and pillowed:
This one is my favorite! I had this picture of Greg and I from a party last year and didn't know what to do with it. In it's original size it just wasn't that great of a picture, but cut down and used in this way it's very nice! I had this frame forever and I'm glad I was finally able to find a way to use it!

I found this blue frame and realized it was perfect for the purple chicken!

I couldn't find a frame for the last chicken that I liked and then I saw this fabric! I had to make it into a pillow!

I also made this little project into a pillow. It's just so cheerful and finding this fabric made all the difference! I even got the trim to come out great!

Once I finished the last chicken I wanted to do this project specifically for this frame and I think it turned out fantastic and it only took a few hours to stitch.

Greg finally finished the stamp and after realizing that it's not 2004 and fixing the date we got it framed for him!

I think it turned out great!!
Now he's working on this mini stained glass project and the frame he's got waiting for it is so fantastic! Can't wait to see it finished!

So despite being sick I was still able to get a lot done, of course I had to stop a lot to rest, but I am happy w/ the results and happy to be feeling loads better! Hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day!

Royal Chicken!
02.10.05 (7:40 am) [edit]
I finished the purple chicken! Okay, so maybe it's really more "lavender" than purple, but I still like it and plan to use it with my Easter decorations. :) I did have to change one of the colors, the middle color that they suggested (dk purple, purple, lt purple) was just too close to the lt purple suggested so I changed it out for a shade darker. I like the result better.
I have to say that after doing the backstitching on this one I am liking it more and more. Isabelle commented that it's like drawing w/ thread and ironically I was just saying that same thing to Greg last nite. :) It does look pencil or pen sketching around it and I find that I really like this effect much more than the traditional backstitching. YES, it's a bit more tricky and takes more thought, but it's worth it for the finished effect. So here is my finished Purple Chicken!

If you want to see more in progress pictures of the chicken, check my gallery (in the links on the left). I have a few more pics there. :)
So now I'm down to the last chicken, in the pics I have he looks green. However, upon examination of the suggested colors I found that he was actually more "blue" than "teal green", so I decided to change out the colors as I wanted a more "green" chicken. I just got started on it last nite and so far I love the colors. Here is what I have done so far:

It's hard to tell how teal green it really is in this pic, I will try to get some better ones later on. These have been a lot of fun to stitch and not as difficult as I had anticipated!
Greg is making progress on his stamp, as of yesterday he was nearly done w/ the "E". I will try to get another pic from him tonite, here's what he had done on Sunday:

Snuggly Chickens
02.04.05 (6:08 am) [edit]
Back again!! And this time I've finished the first of the Margaret Sherry wild and crazy chickens! These are so cute! All snuggly and sweet and extremely retina burning bright! :)
I think they turned out great and even though the backstitching was challenging, I loved it! It adds so much to the overall look of the piece! I have to say it's weird when you are stitching it but when you see the finished piece it looks great! Here they are all complete:

Now I just have to find a frame and I'm onto the next purple chicken. This one will take a bit longer as it's quite a bit larger than these two little ones. But how fun is it to have purple and orange chickens.
Greg has made quite a bit of headway w/ his stamp! One block to go! I have an idea for framing it that (if it turns out) will be very striking...but we will see!

Okay it's the weekend again and it's supposed to be WARM! Today is supposed to be 63F out there! That's amazing! Have a great weekend!!

Chicken
02.03.05 (7:37 am) [edit]
I was reading San's recent review of CrossStitcher and saw a glimpse of a purple chicken on the front cover. San commented how she didn't really want to stitch a purple chicken and I thought to myself, why not?, wouldn't a purple chicken be kind of fun? So I asked her to send me a copy of the pattern and she did (isn't she nice?). When I got it I realized that it's not one pattern but 3, what a bonus! There's a purple chicken, a green one and a cute row of chickens w/ 2 snuggling in the middle. Of course I had to stitch all of them and I started w/ the little chicken couple. I haven't stitched Margaret Sherry patterns before, but have heard how difficult the backstitching can be and I have to agree, it's a bit tedious. However, I think the project will be very nice once done and the backstitching will be the addition that makes it more special. I was able to finish the main stitching for the chicken couple in short order and am now working my way through the back stitching and then I will do the other 2 chickens. So here is the chicken couple in progress:

On Monday I also finished up the Fanci That - May Hat project. It was one I wanted to do for Spring and finally started it on Sunday, it was quite easy so it was done in no time. In fact I finished it so fast that I don't have in progress pics, just the finished/framed piece.

Isabelle and San wanted to know how I fit all this stuff I make into my flat. Well, the truth is...I don't.
Most of the stuff I make is for holidays and once the holiday is over it gets put away until next year. That is the case for the pillows and most everything I've made so far. So, no my place isn't overflowing with projects, it's overflowing with all the other stuff that we have collected.
Stitching Bloggers Question: On a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, how comfortable do you feel changing a design’s colors or the entire color scheme? Elaborate if you wish.
I would say I'm at a 5. I have no problem whatsoever switching out colors if they don't suit me or if I just don't have them. I love tinkering with colors and trying different things. Some patterns are a bit trickier to switch colors if there is a lot of shading, but it can still be done. I don't think we should be locked into a color palette if we don't want to use it and it's actually not that hard to redo the colors, especially if you have a DMC color chart.

Little Fluffy Pillows
02.01.05 (1:07 pm) [edit]
I had a productive weekend, even if I was sick yesterday! I got 4 little pillows finished and my bunnies framed. Yesterday I got a few things done that I will show off tomorrow.
I decided to make these pillows and wanted to trim them out, so I found some very great trim and fabric! I have to say they turned out great even if it is a pain to sew in the fringes. :)
Here are the Cardiology pillows:
This one is sitting on a bear that I also made some years ago for Valentines day. I love it cuz it has articulated legs (they move). And the fabric is very fun. I decided not to trim this one out as the other one was such a bear (no pun intended) to stitch.

I love this one! The purple fuzzy trim is just so rich looking and added a wonderful element to the pillow, even if it was hard to sew in. :)
Springology pillows:

I had to have this fabric when I saw it and I based the rain boots on the fabric color. The overall look is just what I was hoping for and I'd love to make a pillow like this only bigger.

I stitched this bunny in one night so I didn't include separate pics. I think it's so cute and very springy!

The back of the pillows, so fun and definately has me in the mood for spring!

I saw that Anneke posted a pic of my Valentino's on her blog, that was very flattering! So I thought I'd show how I am displaying them in my living room. I was inspired to stitch them by the tiny nutcracker in a tux that is sitting in front of them. I had painted this mini guy a long time ago and knew I had to do the Valentino's when I realized how much they reminded me of him. :)
Greg's Progress:
Greg is doing well on his stamp! It's tough stitching all those blocks of color. But it's looking very pretty!

I'll post more tomorrow... :)
