Oh Happy Day!
10.26.04 (11:16 am) [edit]
I finished Charmed Thanksgiving yesterday and am now onto !Santa Clothes! Yippee! I was glad to get CT done, not that it was horrible to stitch I was just ready to stitch SC! :)
I think that CT turned out great and is going to be a fun addition to my holiday collection!

You can see some close ups of this in my gallery, if you are interested. :) I think the hardest thing (aside from stitching the basket) was where to stitch my name. ;p
So now I'm onto Santa Clothes, which is a fun pattern with a lot of great elements. If you look close at the right side of the pattern you can even see a sliver of Santa's sleigh. I also hand dyed the fabric for this project. I wanted a certain look for it and the blue that I did will be a fun contrast. The front of the pattern says "Santa's Clothes are Freeze Dried". The lady that designs these has a great sense of humor! I hope she does one for Easter. ;D
Here's Santa's underwear, green w/ red dots of course. The red dots have yet to be added. :)

Greg has picked up stitching again and finally finished Frank! Frank is so cute (and so is Greg)! I think it turned out great and can't wait to do the special finishing that Greg wants for it.

He also started on this one, which is so adorable! I think it's going to turn out great!

The pic above is of Tigger's face, hard to tell right now, but he added a bunch of orange last night so it's going along fairly fast.
That's it for now!

Productivity!
10.22.04 (10:32 am) [edit]
:D It's been a hectic week! My father-in-law had to go in on Tuesday and have a pacemaker put in, so I got to spend all day sitting on uncomfortable chairs waiting to hear how he was doing. Gladly everything went fine! :D And he's doing great! As you can guess I took advantage of that time to watch my soap operas  (yes, I'm addicted) and stitch and stitch and stitch some more! Because of this I have made *tremendous* progress on Charmed Thanksgiving! It's amazing how much you can get done in a day when there's nothing else distracting you. I am nearly done! I have to finish the "G" and put in another pumpkin and do the backstitching, which isn't much. I should be finished in a couple of days! I'm so excited to have this ready well in time for Turkey day decorating!! (Yes, I decorate for Thanksgiving too) Plus it means I can get started on Santa Clothes all that much quicker!
So here's the update on CT:

As you can see it's another long and narrow project, you can see a it a bit bigger in my gallery, just click on the small version over there.
This is a fun project to stitch, although the basket was a bit tricky! I did manage to get off somewhere, but it hides well, which is always a good thing! I have the perfect frame for it that Greg found on discount for $1.99, wait till you see it! I couldn't believe it when he brought it home and told me how much he'd gotten it for! My discount hunting ways must be rubbing off on him.
So I hope y'all have a great weekend! It's supposed to be fantastic weather here!

Feeling Better!
10.18.04 (12:47 pm) [edit]
I'm back and feeling much better today! Thanks for your kind words of encouragement!!
I got Pumpkin Patch framed and started on Charmed Thanksgiving. I'm making good progress on CT even if I did find some mistakes that I made...ah well...
Here is Pumpkin Patch framed:

I love this frame it accents the pattern so well and brings out the colors!
Here is my progress on CT:

It is going fairly fast, although the basket was a bit of a pain. The colors are not quite what I thought, but we will see how it turns out. :)
For those of you who were curious about my camera loving kitty, here is a pic of Jesse:

As you can see she is NOT shy of the camera and *loves* having her pic taken. She was adopted from the Humane Society 10 years ago and is a solely indoor kitty...that might explain her eccentricity.... lol She is a HUGE cat, although not fat. I've never measured her entire length, but I do know her tail is 10 inches long. ;p and she weighs about 15 - 17 lbs. I think she is part Husky...kidding, just kidding! She is also very opinionated and will let you know what she thinks whenever she gets the chance, she loves to slam cupboard doors when she is angry and splash water all over the kitchen....Aren't pets fun? :D
Happy Monday!

Fast Finish
10.15.04 (11:21 am) [edit]
Being sick does have some advantages, I got to stitch quite a bit on Pumpkin Patch and was able to finish it quickly. Of course the downside is that I'm SICK. :( Been to the doc and am doing better but definately need some more rest.
I can't decide how to finish this project. I came across a frame that Greg was going to use for a previous project and the pumpkin looks great in it, BUT I already have the stuff to do a different type of finish... (big sigh) I'm thinking I will go w/ the frame and save the other stuff for a different project. This looks so GOOD in that frame.
Here is the finished project (sans frame):

The "Shrekles" fabric was a perfect choice in my opinion, it really compliments the colors of the project.
Now I'm onto a thanksgiving project, Hinzeit's Charmed Thanksgiving. I hope it goes fast. (crosses fingers) I love the colors on it and I am using the same hand dyed fabric I used for Scared Silly. It's one I dyed and didn't like at first and now I seem to be using it for everything, go figure. ;p
I also got Santa Clothes! I can't wait to get started on it! I've got everything ready! I had to make some color changes to better fit the dark fabric I'm using, but I think overall it will be fantastic!

Another one down!
10.11.04 (3:09 pm) [edit]
I finished Scared Silly this weekend!! Hooray! Now I'm onto Pumpkin Patch by Bent Creek.
I had a lot of fun working on Scared Silly and finishing it was an adventure! I started out wanting to make a folding screen/tent type display for it, but that quickly turned into a disaster....let's not even talk about it. ;p SO my hubby discovered a black frame that would work great, it just needed a mat and since I had just purchased this fantastic fabric to do the other project I dediced to make a fabric covered mat instead. It worked out fantastic and I think I like the result better than I would've liked the tent thingy. :D
Here is a pic of SS before framing:

Here is a pic of it framed:

Here is a pic of it in it's place of honor w/ my other Halloween stuff:

I decided to work on Bent Creek's pumpkin patch next and in looking at ALL my fabric (there's a lot believe me) I felt that I wanted to get away from orangey fabric and pulled out this piece that my husband affectionately named "Shrekles". It's a piece I dyed a while ago and it came out w/ interesting green spots. I NEVER thought I'd find a use for it, but as it turns out when you use it in sections it's not that obnoxious.
The funny thing about this next picture is that if you look closely at the bottom left corner you will see that "somebody" decided to sneak into the frame and have their picture taken. LOL This is my cat (Jesse), I guess she wanted to get in on the pic taking and I didn't even realize she was in frame until today. She is a funny cat.
Here is Jesse and my "Shrekles" fabric:

And lastly here is my current progress on Pumpkin Patch, it's going fast, but it's a lot bigger than the pattern appears. The rows are extremely long!! But other than that it should be a quick and easy stitch. :D

End of the week
10.07.04 (12:29 pm) [edit]
It's Thursday! Wish it was Friday, but it's close enough.
It' s raining and making me wish I was at home w/ a blanket and a cup o' tea. :D
I got a lot more done on Scared Silly and it's looking fantastic! I think I'm going to make this one into a sandwich board...not sure what else to call it... but it ends up looking like a picture w/ out the frame?? Of course I will post pics! :)
The orange on this came darker than the original, because I chose a lighter fabric and the lighter orange wouldn't have shown up. I'm not sure about the striping, it's the color they said to use, but it seems kind of dark...oh well I'm sure it will look fine when I'm done!
I heard that my Santa Clothes is being sent out today (rubs hands together in anticipation)! Can't wait, I have my fabric all dyed and ready to go!! Of course I still have loads of other things I want to do, but it's so hard to decide... I may do some Thanksgiving things before I do Santa Clothes because T-day is getting closer... (big sigh) I need another set of hands.
Here is the update pic of Scared Silly:

I will be sad when Halloween is over, I've enjoyed this time immensely this year...but there's always NEXT Halloween (evil laugh) and who knows what I might get done between now and then! I've still got my eye on that life sized Frankenstein... (okay, I'm just kidding...maybe ;) )

Monday Update
10.04.04 (12:19 pm) [edit]
:D I just love it when weekends are productive!! I got a lot done again! Which makes me feel better about all that Halloween stash I've acquired over the last few months.
I got Spooky Row cubed and finished the SamSarah Autumn Crow pillow (actually 2...1 for my mom) and I got some more done on Scared Silly.
I did a mini "How-To" on putting together a cube for Spooky Row. You can see this in my gallery, if you are interested. It's fairly self explanatory.
Here are some pics of Spooky:

I think it turned out fantastic!! I had a lot of fun finishing it!
I also got another new Halloween decoration (one I've been lusting after) Greg bought it for me, isn't he sweet?? :D It's from Heartwood Creek which makes loads of various decorations for Xmas, etc. that have a "quilted" and hand carved look to them.

Here is the update for the "mini" pillows from the SamSarah Autumn Crow pattern:

Theses are fairly easy to make, although I took a lot of short cuts w/ them and experimented w/ fabrics. Since they are supposed to have that "folk art rough" look you don't have to be perfect w/ them, which is nice for me.
And lastly is an update for Scared Silly:

This is coming along nicely and I love this cat. I hope to have it done very soon!
Hope everyone had a great weekend, you can definately feel Fall in the air now...
