I think it turned out very well and I love the colors!! Now onto more fun coffee projects!!
Speaking of being on a caffeine buzz! I think my hubby must be cuz he is cranking through his t-shirt project and it looks great! He's a natural!

It's still a bit weird to have him so into stitching, but I'm glad he enjoys it and it's nice to talk to him about stitching stuff and not watch his eyes glaze over.

The First Finish and Other Things
05.20.04 (11:45 am) [edit]
My hubby the cross stitcher! He is determined to get into this hobby...go figure since it's not a typical man's thing. He is doing well and has the patience of a saint...good thing cuz his current project requires it. :)
First off though here is his finished first project!!
He did a great job!!!
Now his next project:
This is something he designed himself, it's based on the logo for his favorite bicycle. The company has gone out of business and he wanted dearly to have something to wear that commemorated them. So w/ the help of a cross stitch program that I have he designed a project to be stitched on a t-shirt (actually 2 t-shirts). ;p He wanted me to do it for him, but I have never liked waste fabric and after wrangling w/ it for a bit I told him that if he really wanted it he would have to struggle through it himself. This is where the patience thing comes in...I don't have it when it comes to projects of that nature and apparently he does. So here is his current progress!
I think he's doing quite well and even got a lot more done last nite, the fun part will be working him through getting the waste fabric away from the shirt when it's all done. ;p
Now as for me! I have been sick (strep throat) and have worked off and on on my own project. It's coming along, but I hit a bit where it takes tons of backstitching only you aren't backstitching OVER anything just backstitching to make the letters, this is much more challenging and time consuming than I had anticipated so I haven't made tons of progress, but I'm getting there! I was going to use a green color for some of the letters but found out that the clock that I'm basing the colors on has a bright blue in it, so I frogged out the green and added blue! I think it looks great! Can't wait till it's all finished. :)

Another Quickie...
05.13.04 (8:19 am) [edit]
project that is...
I had this freebie pattern for a Celtic Bookmark and decided Iwould make it for my husband. I had bought a pre-cut book mark and started to sew my little heart out, got about half way through and realized that the pre-cut material was NOT big enough - oh the heartache!!! I was going to abandon the project and do something else when my husband suggested that I start over on some leftover blue fabric I had from the disasterous moon project. So I did and you can see the results below. When I finished the gold part of design it needed to have backstitching and since it was on blue it was hard to decide what color to use so you could see the overlapping design. I had this red sparkling DMC thread I had bought for another project and used it. I think it turned out great, it's a nice contrast and the sparkly adds a little whimsy. It only took a few hours to do this (spread over several days), it was fun, but I will leave off on Celtic designs for a while. :D

Swimming in Coffee and Stitchin' Lessons
05.12.04 (1:00 pm) [edit]
Here I am after a long interlude! Work tends to do that to a person, takes them away from the more pleasant things in life. I've been so busy w/ work I haven't been able to do any blogging.  Okay I'm over it. At least I have been able to keep up w/ my hobby of stitching, as you can see I've changed what I'm stitching to a different project. I'm supposed to be rotating, but w/ out of town meetings that's been hard to do. This is a project that I found for free on the web and wanted to do cuz my husband is crazy for coffee and we got this kewl coffee clock and I thought "Hey! I have this project that would kinda match the clock" (once I changed the colors and fabric) So here I am stitching away on Coffee. It's been pretty good, except for the 3 frog outs I had to do cuz I couldn't get the giant red "C" to come out right. In the end it did and I'm making fair progress, as you can see. Click the pic to see more on this project, including a larger version of the picture.

Stitchin' Lessons:
So here I am frogging out my coffee "c" for the second time and my hubby points out (innocently enough) where my mistake started and I am (in my way) grateful (honest). :) Well his eye for catching stitching problems leads him down the curiousity highway and dumps him off in front of his very first stitching project. He's very excited, it's new and he's determined that he too can do this stitching stuff. So below is his first project and his current progress. Of course I had to give him lessons on cross stitch, which he did his best to follow. Watching him stitch it became very obvious to me that all humans are completely unique in how they tackle the same task. I am finding it refreshing to see him working his way through this and w/ very little complaining. I am always surprised when a man chooses to do a hobby that is typically associated w/ females. I think it shows a lot of character for a man to put aside sexist idealogies and give these things a try (like dishes...for example). There are a lot of men out there that could stand to get in touch w/ their feminine sides.
