Additional Flat Fold Info
10.27.05 (3:49 am) [edit]
Ann asked: I have one question on the flat fold. I understand that you glue the cord around the front flap and tie the loose ends with a bow? How do you go for the back flap? Is it the same cord?
The bow is just for added effect, you could trim the cord and glue the ends down if you desired. The cording on the back side is attached in the same manner as the front. I started with a separate piece of cording and glued the end down then wrapped it around the outside edge and glued the other side in place.
One thing I strongly suggest would be to use ribbon between the front and back to keep the project from collapsing. Ribbon is more easily attached w/ glue. I had a devil of a time attching the piece of cording, but I didn't have ribbon, so I improvised. :)
I'm glad you all are finding this project explanation helpful, let me know if you have more questions. :D

10.26.05 (6:25 am) [edit]
Okay, I had problems w/ the place hosting the flat fold site...let's just NOT go there...
So I got a whole new site that should let you access it no problems. Also try the link to the big pic of the Be Thankful cube, you will need to scroll down and click on the smaller pic to see the larger version. I apologize for all the troubles. Enjoy and thanks!
Flat Fold: http://institches.zap3x.com/mystitching/flatfold/ flatfold.html" title="http://institches.zap3x.com/mystitching/flatfold/ flatfold.html" target="_blank"http://institches.zap3x.com/m...

And for Barbara, who doesn't believe in the Great White Pumpkin  Here is a link so that you all can see I'm not going daft. :D

Barbara is right though that white pumpkins are unusual and it's only recently that they've been on the market around here. I think that the white color gives them a certain "spooky" aspect.

Flat Fold Tutorial
10.25.05 (4:23 am) [edit]
and Turkey Day! :D I finally finished my flat fold tutorial! I used Scary Stack and made it into a flat fold. It took a bit of preparation and thought, but I figured out how to make it into a flat fold. Here is the link if you want to follow the steps I used: http://institches.zap3x.com/m...
Here is a finished pic of Scary Stack flat folded.

I also finished up Be Thankful into a cube. It turned out great, although a bit large. But it's a large project soooooo...

If you want to see a larger version go here: http://institches.zap3x.com/mystitching/bethankfu l.html" title="http://institches.zap3x.com/mystitching/bethankfu l.html" target="_blank"http://institches.zap3x.com/m...
I am nearly finished with Golden Autumn. This picture is from last Friday...

I decided to change the colors, as I wanted something different. I love white pumpkins and find them very unique, so I decided to switch the colors around so I'd have a white pumpkin w/ the turkey in the middle. I plan to make this into a nice pillow when I'm finished. I found just the perfect fabric so it should be a lot of fun!
Greg got his Never Enough Time Clock all together and wanted me to give it an aged treatment. So I painted it red, then crackled black paint over it.
Go here and scroll down to see a close up of the paint: http://institches.zap3x.com/gregstitching/gregspa ge4.html#minute" title="http://institches.zap3x.com/gregstitching/gregspa ge4.html#minute" target="_blank"http://institches.zap3x.com/g...
Here is the finished clock:

And here is Greg's current project the Calla Lillies:

I think this is looking so pretty! And he's getting it done fairly quickly too!
I had a busy weekend, with all the finishing and I dyed up another round of fabric. I wanted some smaller counts to work on and had run out of the orangey/yellow fabrics as well. It seems we like that color a lot. :) The weather has turned off cold and now it looks like autumn, which is great! I'm ready to snuggle down and have some hot cocoa!

Stitching Blogger's Question
10.20.05 (3:51 am) [edit]
Do you mark or hi-lite your patterns or can you follow them without any markings? Do you make copies to mark up, or do you mark originals?
I always make a copy of any pattern I'm going to use. If it's in color I scan and print it out in color. If it's tiny print I'll blow it up, anything to make it easier to read. I prefer to use colored pencils to track where I'm at on a copy of the pattern. It's just easier for me as I get easily distracted and lose track then it's a big mess. I don't want to mess up the original as I like share or resell the patterns.

Drum Roll Please!
10.18.05 (4:34 am) [edit]
:D Be Thankful is finished! (insert happy dance) I can't believe I managed to get it all completed last night. I must have had a fire under my fingers! Whatever it was, I am glad it's done so now I can move onto my second TDay project!
Here are a couple of pics:

I am definately going to cube this one and I think I even have a long cube ready that will fit this...if I trim it close. I LOVE Bent Creek projects they are so quick and satisfying to stitch, they always turn out so adorable. The next one I'm working on I will most likely turn into a pillow, as that's what they did w/ it on the cover of the pattern. It should be a quick stitch, although a bit boring as it's only 4 colors.
Greg is now working on a Calla Lily project for me and here is an update pic:

It's a bit tricky to see the colors right now, but it has a nice backstitching around it that will help bring it our and a lot of green behind most of the flowers. It's so pretty already, I'm so excited to see how it turns out as Calla Lillies are my second favorite flower (sunflowers are the my all time favorite). I can't help but gush over Greg's stitching, he just does the prettiest work!
Now I will have to run out and get that Turkey fabric that I saw so I can do my cube! This is the fun part of stitching finding cute things to finish off the project. And (for those that care) Hobby Lobby is having a big sale on their Halloween and Fall stuff this week... (hums) shopping, shopping, shopping...

A Quick Stitch
10.17.05 (11:24 am) [edit]
:D That's what my newest project is turning out to be! I am glad too, as I have a couple more Thanksgiving projects I want to do asap. A couple of people commented on how many things I posted last time, well I have to laugh cuz it's easy to find a lot of things to post about when you have two stitchers in the house. Some of the things I posted Greg had been working on a long time and I had just gotten around to finishing. :) And I will admit that the stuff I've been working on recently is easy to stitch. All I can say is Hooray for easy projects!
Here is the update on my current stitch:

Can you believe how much I got done in the last few days! It's amazing! Greg commented that I've got a headless turkey on my project, and I laughed and told him that's the only way I like to eat them... (okay bad joke...)
The next two projects are Greg's! This first one is a clock he's been trying to get finished. He just found this shadow box that he will use for the clock, this is a test fit. The smiley face mug is from my 5 and 4 year old nieces, they gave it to Greg...what did I get...NOTHING. What can I say, they LOVE Greg and I'm just boring Aunt Kim. Do I sound bitter?

And this last one is a cute Halloween frame we found on sale and Greg stitched this mini version from my Scary Stack to put into it, I still need to cut it and put it in the frame...

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a look and for all the nice comments! I freely admit I am a lurker on most of your blogs, I just don't always have time to leave comments, but I am working on that. :)

It's Flying By!
10.13.05 (4:21 am) [edit]
October that is! I can't believe it's already the middle of the month, so much I wanted to get done and it's just not going to happen. :( Oh well, them's the breaks and now onto other bigger things! :)
I finished up Lost Spirits and turned it into a wall hanging...I would've liked to have framed it, but space wise this was a better choice. I love the fabric I think it really compliments the project. The thing I love is that I showed it to a couple of friends and they thought it must've been so hard to stitch w/ all the color changes. I had to explain that the threads I used do that automatically for me, but I had a good chuckle about it.

I also finished Scary Stack, but haven't done anything w/ it yet. I want to make it into a flat fold, but don't have everything I need (like cardboard) and I also want to do a tutorial w/ it in case anyone else wants to give it a try. :) Here is the finished project.

Greg finally got his project finished and framed! It looks so kewl!

Vision is the name of the recumbent bicycle that he rides and he just loves it so hence the stitching.
I also got his little sunflower project framed...

Something went a little cattywompus w/ the framing so it's not perfectly centered, but I love the frame and it matches it perfectly!
I also started on Be Thankful by Bent Creek. Yes it's time to do those fast Thanksgiving projects and this one is so adorable! I will probably cube it when finished, not sure yet...but I did see some fantastic turkey print fabric the other day...

I changed the colors of the letters and the leaves and used 2 Needle Necessities colors instead. I love the letters they are better than I had imagined they would be! The only thing I decided, is that I definately need some smaller count fabrics dyed up. I only have a couple of pieces of 16 count that I hand dyed and I need to do some more and some 18 as well, maybe even a couple pieces of evenweave... Sometimes you just need smaller count fabrics...even if I do have trouble seeing them. So that's something I will have to work on soon is buying and dying some smaller counts to have on hand.
Enjoy fall and happy pumpkin hunting!

October!
10.04.05 (11:05 am) [edit]
:D It's October, my favorite month of the year! Usually it's crisp and the trees are starting to turn and there's a feeling of change in the air. However this October is starting out rather odd, first it's not just warm here it's HOT! 91F to be exact, which is more like August, the warmth has slowed the trees turning so that it appears more like mid September and I am beginning to wonder if the trees will turn color at all or just go brown and have done w/ it. I think I need to get some apple cinnamon smelly stuff and scatter it around just to get in the mood for fall.
I finished my Lost Spirits project and love how it turned out, now I'm not sure whether to make it into a wall hanging or frame it. I'm leaning towards wall hanging as I saw some fantastic Halloween fabric this weekend and I'm dying to buy some of it. Plus it will pack better when Halloween is over.

I also started on Bent Creek's Scary Stack. This is not only fun, but super easy. I just started on Sunday and am nearly finished! Of course sitting watching Lost on DVD for hours on end could have helped that out...

I have to blame AngelSan for getting me hooked on Lost, I avoided watching the show just because I didn't want to get sucked in, but then she began telling me how good it was and POOF! I'm out renting the DVD's and watching hours and hours of the stuff. And (grudgingly) I will admit it's very good, very clever and not at all what I thought it would be.
Greg is still working on his Vision project, here it is all filled in. He's working on lettering for it and should be done soon. I think he's going to make a donation project for the end of the month as well, we will see. :)

I may try to squeez one more Halloween project in before going straight to Thanksgiving. Not sure though as I have a couple of kewl Turkey Day projects that I really want to complete. Let's see how fast I finish the Scary Stack and then see. :)

Lost Spirits
09.28.05 (11:48 am) [edit]
I'm making good progress on the Lost Spirits project. This pic is from a couple of days ago, currently I am nearly done w/ the pumpkin head. It's going a lot faster than I had thought and I love all the colors, although I've had to change most of them because the fabric I chose is just a little too light for them to show up.

Greg is almost finished with his Vision project, he's got all the yellow filled in now, need to get a new pic. And it just so happened that a while back I had bought a black frame that I thought was so unique but had no idea what to put in it. Well it will be perfect for his project! I love it when it all works out like that. :D

Lastly I'm leaving you with a pic of my newest Halloween acquisitions. These are cute little bud vases that I found at the local supermarket. I was picking up a few things and went by the floral dept and there they were. These remind me of Halloween postcards from the 1920's. Of course they had 4 of these all different and I just couldn't decide on which one to get. I debated and debated and finally thought I'd just get 2 but then I loved the girl in the devil costume so I *had* to get her as well. I thought well at least I didn't get all four. I took them home and showed them to Greg and told him I had "restrained" myself by not buying all of them, he just laughed and said you should've got them all. I guess next time I will throw caution to the wind!

No Sew Cube Project and Finishes
09.19.05 (10:50 am) [edit]
:D Here I am back after spending most of last week out sick. I am amazed at how much I was able to get done despite not feeling well. By Sunday I was my old self and got a lot of projects framed, etc.
I have noticed that a lot of people have been asking about "no sew" cubes on some blogs I read. I decided since I have made a lot of cubes and I had a small project that needed a finish that I would make a step by step instruction on how to make a no sew cube. If you are interested go here: http://www.angelfire.com/art2...
I have included my email address in case you have any questions you would like answered.
Here is a pic of the cube that I finished for the tutorial:

I also finished the last Eekology project and framed it. I love the frame for this one and was so happy to find just the right project for it.

And while I was sitting around waiting to expire from my virus. I also stitched Heart in Hand's Halloween Medley, it was so quick! I finished it in a couple of days. Very fun to work on! I made it into a wall hanging and the fabric I found for it is quite wild, but a lot of fun.

I also started on Birds of a Feather Lost Spirits project. I had some trouble w/ the threads, I didn't have everything they called for so I had to do substitutions, but in the end I think the colors I chose look great.

Greg has been stitching again! He finished this little sunflower project.
We are still trying to decide how best to finish it off.
And now he is working on another Vision Bicycle logo.

And I have to leave you with this picture of our poor tormented puddy tat... Greg was doing his best Shrek imitation "Aarrggggh I'm a terrible Ogre!" using her as the puppet. She was not amused...she is giving me a look like "why do I tolerate you mere mortals?"

Eek!
09.12.05 (5:36 am) [edit]
Every year when I begin to celebrate fall/Halloween I am reminded of how American culture has become somewhat isolated and to varying degrees self centered. I am one of the lucky Americans that is exposed on a regular basis to foreign cultures and peoples. But even I forget that not everyone out there celebrates the same holidays I do or even understands them. I feel lucky to have been introduced in a small way to other countries holidays and customs. This is my chance to share my love for Halloween (a tradition that I have celebrated w/ relish since I was a young child) and other American holidays with all of you. I hope that you will take the time on your blogs to share your favorite holidays and customs as well! I look forward to reading all of them. :D
:D 2.5 down and 1 to go! I finished and framed 2 of the EEkology projects and am nearly done w/ the 3rd. I should've been done, but I had some color confusion w/ black and finally got it sorted out last night. You know how it is there is "black" and then there is "sort of black" So my "black" cat has gradiations of dark grey to black as I grabbed the wrong threads at some point during stitching it. (oops)
Here are the first 2 framed:

I love the EEK the best, the ghost was a bit of a let down, but the fabric looks wonderful. :)
I also finally got Greg's EduCATed framed!

I love this one, glad I finally had time to finish it up! :)
And when it rains, it POURS, cuz I also got Scaredy Cat and the Marriage Tree framed as well.

I found some great stickers that I used to embellish this frame, which I bought for a couple of bucks. It had some ugly picture in it that I knocked out. You can see a larger pic of Scaredy Cat here: http://www.angelfire.com/art2...

I love the frame for this project, I think it's just perfect...well almost. I had originally intended for this project to be in an 11" x 14" frame and this one is 10" x 13" so I will have to recut everything. This is taped to the back so I could see how it would look and it will fit fine! I love the sky blue w/ the white frame. Sometimes all it takes is the perfect frame to make project even better. Best of all I got it 1/2 off at the craft place, gotta love those frame sales. :D

That was Relatively Painless...
09.07.05 (6:36 am) [edit]
:D I finished Scaredy Cat and found that it was so easy that I hardly believed it was done! The only problem I ran into was that I didn't have enough of the recommended threads and had to do a quick substitution. Now I just need to frame it up.

Now I'm onto Eekology by the Trilogy. I'm doing the projects individually and olny plan to 4 out of the 5 on the page. I have several mini frames that will work out great for these projects! And best of all the are mega fast!! :)

Oh and I decided to decorate for Halloween already here are some pics of my newest acquisitions! http://www.angelfire.com/art2...

Moving Right Along
08.30.05 (5:05 am) [edit]
Doing projects for holidays that are months down the road often makes me feel out of sync. Here I am stitching for Halloween and it's still August and hotter than Hades out there. And yet I find myself wondering why it's not cooler and why are the trees still green??? LOL It's the same when I stitch Xmas stuff in the fall, where is the snow and candy canes? Okay I'm weird...but I find that I stitch these items to get me in the mood for a holiday, but in order to have them ready I have to work well in advance of it and that lends to the time bending personality disorder. I'm not really ready for fall or winter (ick) but I am always ready for the fun holidays they bring. I've even been sucked into buying MORE Halloween decorations...I'm so addicted. Ah well...here I am enjoying the dregs of summer wandering in a stitching limbo of fall and Halloween and when Halloween comes around I'll be thinking of jolly men in red w/ little elf accomplices. LOL

P.S. Thanks to everyone for their ever kind comments (Isabelle, Susie, Anneke and San) I appreciate it immensely. I don't always have loads of time for blogging, but I *do* love reading everyone elses blogs! You all are inspiration to keep stitching away, cuz it's fun to stitch, but it's ever more fun to share it with people who appreciate it!

Questions and Answers
08.25.05 (3:21 am) [edit]
:D I finally feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things! I haven't been able to post this much for quite a while! :D
First off Anneke asked the name of the designer of the Marriage Tree. The designer is Raise the Roof Designs, she is located in Fargo, North Dakota. Her web address is: http://www.shakespearespeddle... I love her designs, she's the one who designed Witchy Washy and Santa Clothes, that I stitched last year.
Stitching Bloggers Question: What’s the largest project you’ve ever done? What’s the smallest?
The largest project, in terms of stitches, I've ever done is the Blue Moon Coffee http://www.angelfire.com/art2... project, however in terms of difficulty the Oak Island Pirate Map http://www.angelfire.com/art2... was the most difficult.
The smallest was the Angel S that I did for San last Xmas. http://www.angelfire.com/art2...
Since I started stitching again last year I've done a variety of large and small project, but most have been what I would call medium sized. This year I've seemed to take on more larger projects, which is why it seems like I haven't gotten as much done. I love the small projects as they are fast and it is satisfying to have something finished in a flash, but the bigger projects are satisfying for the sense of accomplishment and determination it takes to finish them. Mainly I just stitch whatever takes my fancy and right now that's Halloween!

Quick Update!
08.24.05 (6:26 am) [edit]
:D I'm glad to report that my new project seems to be going faster than the last one. :) I love the fabric color, but am sure I will be sick of black long before I finish.

The cat is supposed to look a bit scary, but right now I think he has a big 'ol grin and is not intimidating at all. So far it's going well and easy! Not sure what I will do w/ it when finished. I think I might have a frame it will fit into, need to check that out. :) I'm already excited about decorating for Halloween and it's not even September yet. I don't know about where you live, but here some stores were putting out Halloween stuff in JULY. That's just wrong. They should at least let us finish up most of the summer first...ah well such is life!

It's Finished!
08.22.05 (9:13 am) [edit]
I finally finished the Marriage Tree! It looks great and I love the sentiment. The picture didn't turn out as good as I'd have liked, it looks better in person. And I'm not sure I like how it's signed, so I may change that, but otherwise it's good. It finished up fairly quickly, although the "commitment" letters were tricky. I haven't decided how to frame this one out yet, but want to get it done soon, I've been putting off framing and finishing things for a while and I've got a couple of things that need finishing. I'm thinking of dying some fabric again soon, I've got some new colors I'd like to try and w/ fall coming it might be a good time to do a few pieces.
I also started on Scaredy Cat from Hinzeit, I bought this last year and wanted to do it for Halloween, but never got it done, so now's the chance. It's mostly black or Onyx (Week's Dye Works), but I have a fun piece of fabric I'm using for it.

The rainbow on this was all 1/2 stitches, that was interesting to do. I've never done several rows of just 1/2 stitches before. It was more challenging than it would seem.
Greg finally finished the clock he was working on and now he will have to get it finished out. It is very clever the way he set up the colors on this one...

He divided the numbers up and did green (go), yellow (caution) and red (time's up). I thought it was very clever and especially for a clock. :) He's working on a mini sunflower right now, but is still locked up w/ his bikes most days. I'm sure he'll get more stitching done when the bug hits him.

Broccoli Tops...
08.11.05 (6:12 am) [edit]
that's what this pic reminds me of. I finally got through stitching the green top of the tree on this project. It's been slow going but what w/ moving, etc. I'm not surprised. I love the blue fabric I'm using w/ this one, it goes well w/ the rest of the colors in the project. I'm hoping now that the broccoli top is done that the rest will move faster, we will see. I am looking forward to starting on some Halloween projects, but realized today that in a way I'm glad I'm not stitching any right now. It just makes fall come too fast... It's hard enough to go into a lot of stores when it's searingly hot outside and see the fall decorations, but stitching them when I want summer to linger just a while longer just wouldn't be a good thing. Here is a progress pic:

The tricky thing in this stitching was not to get off on the count so that the embedded letters came out looking like they were supposed to. It is definately a fun project and I love the colors, so bright and cheerful.
Greg still isn't stitching. He's too lost in his bike room for that right now. Maybe soon I miss watching him stitch. :)

Stitching Blogger's Questions
08.04.05 (3:47 am) [edit]
I'm back and working hard! It seems it always takes a few days to get caught up at work when you've been gone for over a week! We got moved just fine and are trying to settle in, that's the difficult part. I lived at my old place so long that the new place doesn't feel right as yet. Got to get those routines going.
I am working on my latest project, but don't have an update pic yet. It's going slower than I had hoped, but I'm not surprised. I'm sure I will pick up steam in the next couple of days, cuz stitching is making me feel more normal after the move. Greg isn't stitching anything right now, he's too busy organizing his bicycle room, fussing w/ this and that and getting it just the way he wants it. :)
I saw a couple of SBQs that I thought would be fun to answer so here they are:
What is your most unique/interesting stitching quirk? (This could be something concerning the way you stitch, how you organize your stash, etc.)
I have greatly enjoyed reading about everyone else's quirks. :) Mine are, I only like to stitch at night. Occasionally I stitch during the days (on weekends) but for the most part I only like to stitch at night. I find it quite relaxing to stitch for a couple of hours before bedtime, but have trouble sitting for hours on end during the day. This is one of the reasons it takes me longer to complete projects.
I also only like stitching on hand dyed fabrics. Once I got started on them I could never go back to white or cream fabric. Which leads to the next SBQ...
Have you hand-dyed your own fabric? Why or why not? Would you like to try to do so?
Yes I have hand dyed my own fabric, tons of it! I love hand dyed fabrics, but found that I couldn't afford to pay what the shops were asking for them. And since I am quite a crafty/artsy person I decided to give it a try for myself. I first tried dying w/ RIT dye, but found it didn't give the colors I liked and was difficult to work w/. Then I found a supplier that carried DYLON cold dye. I LOVE the stuff and have dyed many yards of fabrics w/ it. I love experimenting w/ color combinations and have created some great pieces that have added a lot to my (and Greg's) stitching projects. I have found that getting back into cross stitching has fulfilled a lot of my artistic needs. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed being crafty and from dying my own fabric to creatively finishing them it's just been a lot of fun. My only wish is that we had great LNS around here...there was one, but unfortunately she went out of business last fall. She gave me a lot of great ideas and inspiration. I suppose I will have to do a "road trip" to find another great one...it's worth it though to be able to see items first hand. :)
Hope the summer is treating everyone well!

:) Things w/ the move are going good...aside from an air conditioner leak that soaked the carpet and blistering heat that nearly caused us to expire while toting boxes. Fortunately the soaked carpet did no damage, can we have a hurrah that we hadn't moved our furniture yet! Just a few soggy boxes. And the heat is just something to deal w/ this time of year. Luckily we got move all of our stuff moved, except the big furniture and we will be inside doing some "accent" painting this weekend. :)
I haven't loads of time for stitching but I did manage to finish Glory and start a new project! Glory looks great but it may be a while before I can do a nice finish for it.

You can see a larger image of it by going here http://www.angelfire.com/art2... and clicking on the smaller image. I love the colors for this and if I hadn't been distracted it wouldn't have taken any time at all to stitch. :)
I just started the Marriage Tree by Raise the Roof Designs. This is a fun project and very colorful. I picked a nice piece of hand dyed fabric for it and so far am loving how it's going. Very easy to stitch, just big.

Greg is in stitching hiatus for right now...I think he's just worn out poor man. But he has hinted that he's going to stitch a Calla Lily pic for me next! I love Calla Lilies! :)
Hope everyone is surviving the heat!

It's That Time Again...
07.06.05 (10:34 am) [edit]
the Tour de France is rolling again! I love watching the Tour and it seems to get me stitching like mad! I am nearly finished w/ my flag and I thought I might not get done till after the move! :)

It looks good, love the colors! But I'm excited to start my next project. :)
Greg finished the Educated project, looks fantastic. Haven't framed it yet, but hope to have time sometime soon.

This is just so adorable, wait till you see it framed!
Now he's working on a clock project. And at first I thought it sounded weird, what w/ the colors he was describing, but now it's coming together and it looks pretty cool!

He's using Confetti for the outline and I love this color it's so pretty. You will have to wait to see what he's doing w/ the rest (heh, heh) but it's gonna be interesting. Then he's going to turn the whole thing into a clock!
We pick up our new apartment keys tomorrow so from then on it's moving, moving, moving! :)

More Progress!
07.01.05 (5:53 am) [edit]
I am making good progress on the flag, although it won't be done for Indenpendence day, it won't be that far behind. :) Then it will have to wait around until I get time to make it into a pillow.

Greg is making speedy progress on his cat! He's nearly done! It is such a fun project and so adorable. We have the perfect frame for it as well..

It's a 3 day weekend (Monday off) so we are going to go try to have some fun! Happy 4th everybody!

Water, Water...
06.29.05 (6:51 am) [edit]
well it's not "everywhere" but it sure made a mess in the middle of my office! I came in this morning and part of the ceiling in my office had collapsed from a water leak...can we say EEWWW? Someone came out and found out where the water was coming from and got the leaking stopped, but now I have to wait for them to come out and replace the ceiling tiles and *hopefully* wet vac the carpet. I took a couple of pics so you could see the "devastation"

I now have a nice view of the steam pipes in the ceiling. ... Just another fun filled day at work! :D
Isabelle asked when I am moving...well I get the keys end of next week and then have until the last week in July to get all moved out. This is handy since it's just Greg and me doing all the small moving...the big moving (heavy furniture) will be done on the 23rd of July. So it gives us time to get things done, like painting if we want in the new place. And it gives us time to watch the Tour de France during July becuz we can't miss Lance's last ride! :D

Getting Catty...
06.28.05 (5:19 am) [edit]
:D Hello again! Ever dedicated, we find time to stitch even in the middle of our move. Actually it's a nice stress breaker after packing and packing and packing...
Greg is making fast progress on EduCated, it's very cute, especially cuz he's making the cat "resemble" Jesse (our cat). It's been quite funny watching Greg get the cat to pose for him so he can get the details just right....good thing the cat is a ham for the camera.
Here's Greg's progress:

The picture doesn't do this justice at all, in my opinion. :)
My flag is going slower than I'd like, but I haven't spent tons of time on it either. Plus I found a mistake at the end of the red stripe that I had to rip out and redo, but it's getting there and under normal circumstances wouldn't take long to stitch up.

It's hard to find a good spot to take pictures right now, what w/ boxes covering everything. At least the small stuff is packed and sorting has been done, a lot of stuff has been donated to charity and I have a feeling even more stuff will go once I start unpacking. It's actually been a good thing, as stuff that should've been disposed of long ago is now gone. It's amazing how much stuff a person accumulates over time, even in a small space. :)

A Big Hit!
06.21.05 (5:37 am) [edit]
:D That's what Greg's wolf picture was! He finished it on Sunday and we got it framed up and ready to go on Monday. Greg presented the wolf to his co-worker and friend Gerald on Monday morning (June 20). Greg created this project to show Gerald his appreciation for all Gerald does. Gerald was out of the office for several weeks this spring being treated for an early stage cancer and to say Greg missed him would be a major understatement. :) Gerald is recovering marvelously, as you can see from his picture and Greg is thrilled that he's back! Below are pics of the finished wolf and Gerald w/ his surprise gift.

I also got my map matted and framed. It's hard to see from the pics, but the frame is a peacock blue crackle w/ terra cotta underneath. I am putting a close up of the frame so you can get an idea of what it looks like, although the effect in person is much more striking. It turned out great and Greg did a fantastic job on the mat. I just love this project it turned out better than I could've ever hoped. Now I will have to find a special spot for it in our new place.

If you go here you can and click the picture you can see a large version of this project. http://www.angelfire.com/art2...

I have made some progress on the flag, but don't have an update pic yet. It's slow going, as I am in mega cleaning and packing mode...we are now drowning in boxes... I will be glad when we are moved over and can get some breathing room. :D
